What does "web hosting" mean?
Web hosting is a service provided by companies known as Web Presence Providers.  When a company or individual creates a Web site, the files of the Web site must be on a server with a direct connection to the Internet, Domain Name Service, and many other technical configurations in order for the site to be accessible on the World Wide Web.  It is much more cost-effective to rent server space from a Web Presence Provider than to buy your own server computers, T3 connections to the Internet backbones, and hire a technical staff to keep the servers running properly.

What is "Virtual" Web Hosting?
Virtual Web hosting simply means that your Web site is on a server that hosts several Web sites - not just one.  Virtual hosting provides the most economical means of having a Web site on the Internet, as opposed to having one server (a dedicated server) for your Web site.  The security on a virtual server is just as high as that on a dedicated server if managed properly - which is what has made Premier Domain one of the most secure virtual hosting service in the world.

What do I have to do, step by step, to put a Web site on the Internet?
First, you need to develop a Web site.  This can be done in several different ways, by you or by a professional Web site developer. If you have determined that your company will need a complex Web site, with very dynamic features, you may want to consider having the site professionally developed.

If you have a good deal of experience with computers and different software programs, you may feel comfortable using a Web-authoring program.  Premier Domain recommends Microsoft FrontPage because of its advanced and easy-to-use features, as well as its compatibility with our hosting services.

Once your Web site is developed, you will need to get a domain name, and put your site on the Internet by finding a hosting company.  This is where Premier Domain comes in.  We do nothing but host Web sites, devoting our business to keeping your site up and running at all times with tremendous speed.

Will I be able to make changes to my Web site?
You will have access to update your site 24 hours a day.  Using a Web development tool such as CuteFTP, FrontPage, or Dreamweaver will make it easy for you to keep your site fresh and updated!

Does anyone else have access to my Web site to make changes?
No.  Only you and anyone who has your User ID and Password have access to publish or modify your Web site.

Which hosting package is right for me?
The answer to this question depends on the type of Web site(s) you wish to host with us, how much data storage and bandwidth your site will require and what sort of features you will want on your server, among other things.
Our Standard Package is our most popular choice for small or medium-sized companies seeking to establish a Web presence that won't require vast server resources as well as for hobbyists whose Web sites have grown beyond the limits of the light Web hosting services made available by ISPs like AOL and free hosting providers such as GeoCities. With the Standard plan, users are allotted a generous 7,000 MB of data transfer bandwidth per month and 500 MB of disk storage space. The Standard plan is priced at $24.95 per month. TELL ME MORE!
If your business requires an online shopping cart solution, a Premier E-Commerce Package is the answer. These full featured shopping cart solutions start at $29.95 a month and allows you to create an on-line product catalog to sell your products. TELL ME MORE!

How do I know whether I need an Windows server or a UNIX server?
If you need Microsoft Windows specific technologies, like Active Server Pages (ASP), Visual Basic Script, Cold Fusion or ODBC database access, then the Windows server is for you. If you do not require these technologies, then UNIX is the right choice. Most of the sites on the Internet are hosted on the UNIX platform. We support Microsoft® FrontPage® Extensions on both UNIX and Windows servers.

Do I need to run Microsoft Windows 2000 or UNIX to host my Web site on them?
No, these choices simply reflect the type of server service we provide. This has nothing to do with the operating system you are running on your computer. You use programs like FTP or FrontPage to transfer files from your computer to the UNIX or Windows server computer.

Do I get free technical support with all hosting plans?
Free technical support includes server issues, using e-mail services, and server configuration details. It does not include HTML authoring, CGI programming or resolving custom software issues.

Do you offer paid custom programming and development?
Yes, for more information click here.

Do you offer dial up service?
No. You will need local Internet access in order to maintain your Web site and retrieve email addressed to your site.
